Opening flag ceremony

  • Color guard, ATTENTION. Wait for obedience between commands.
  • Will the audience PLEASE rise.
  • Scouts, SALUTE.
  • Color guard, ADVANCE. Upon advance, flags must cross as follows. The American flag must be displayed to the right of leader and come from right of the audience. The State flag must be displayed to the left of leader and come from left of the audience.
  • Color guard, PLACE THE COLORS. American flag comes first.
    PLACE
    The flags will be placed in a free standing manner or posted on its post holder.
    POST
    The flags will be posted into its post holder or onto a flag pole. Before advance, unfurl flags on posts.
    PRESENT
    The flags will be presented and displayed onto a flag pole or a wall. After advance, unfold cloth flags.
  • Will the audience please follow me in the PLEDGE OF ALLEGIENCE. Say the pledge of allegiance with the audience.
  • Ready, TWO.

Closing flag ceremony

  • Color guard, ATTENTION. Wait for obedience between commands.
  • Will the audience PLEASE RISE.
  • Scouts, SALUTE.
  • Color guard, OBTAIN the colors. American flag leaves last.
    LOWER
    The flags will be lowered from a flag pole. Before retreat, 2 guards fold cloth flags stars out, first in quarters lengthwise and then triangular folds.
    OBTAIN
    The flags will be obtained from a free standing position or from a wall.
    WITHDRAW
    The flags will be removed from display from their post holders. Cloth flags kept on posts or mounts remain unfurled until stowed after dismissal.
  • Color guard, RETREAT. American flag goes from stage right to audience right. State flag goes from stage left to audience left.
  • Color guard, DISMISSED. Color guard may leave the meeting to stow flags neatly into its proper storage so the flags may be recovered for the next meeting.
